Law Student & Creator of Lean Into Law
For many students, the law school admissions process feels like a mystery.
LSAT scores, personal statements, scholarships, and applications all seem to exist behind a curtain, and figuring out how everything works can be overwhelming without clear guidance. That uncertainty is exactly what led Colleen Young to start sharing her journey online.
Colleen is a law student and the COO of JurisPrep, a company focused on helping students approach the law school admissions process more strategically and maximize scholarship opportunities. But outside of her work there, she also created Lean Into Law, a platform where she documents her own experience navigating law school while sharing transparent insights about admissions, scholarships, and the realities of the process.
What began as simply posting about her own journey quickly resonated with students who were looking for clarity. Many prospective law students feel unsure about how to position themselves for admission or how scholarships actually work. By openly sharing her experiences and lessons learned, Colleen has helped make the path a little clearer for people trying to navigate it for the first time.
Her approach is simple: transparency. Instead of presenting law school as a polished highlight reel, she focuses on explaining the process in a practical way: what works, what doesn’t, and what applicants should know before they start.
Today, through both her work with JurisPrep and her content platform Lean Into Law, Colleen continues to help prospective law students better understand how to approach admissions strategically and make the most of their opportunities.
One lesson she often shares is something many successful people eventually realize: a lot of opportunities come from taking initiative before you feel fully ready. Consistency, curiosity, and a willingness to share your process can open doors you never expected.
Sometimes the biggest advantage is simply starting.
